Text --> Brail

Brailect interprets conventional text into Braille or audio for the blind

      Braille is definitely a gift for the visually impaired, but publishing or translating the vast storehouse of books in Braille is virtually impossible, preventing the blind to experience the rich literature. Providing a solution, Peruvian designer Diego Lau Toyosato has devised an electronic gadget that offers reader assistant for blind people. Entitled the “Brailect,” the new device as depicted by its name can be worn like a bracelet or glove, turning into a fashionable accessory for the users.

With Brailect, users can convert the conventional text in either Braille or audio according to their convenience. The device also integrates an earphone to read or play the text straight into the ear of the user.

Multilingual Robots

Multilingual robots to assist visitors at Santander complex, Madrid

Modern office and residential complexes spreading in vast area are fast turning into virtual cities, which often require proper assistance to trace and visit different counters or divisions.

Offering a solution, the Visitors Center in Madrid, Spain has come up with multilingual robots to assist and move visitors from one section to another stretched in a big complex. All the visitors need to do is access the mechanical swarm and select the desired language to type the desired destination on an integrated touchscreen to be passed on to an automated system to safely navigate them to their destination.

RoboCup

RoboCup

This clever little product helps all levels of golfers focus on their putting strokes and allows them to spend less time chasing balls when they are putting. This return robot is able to bring your ball back to you within 14 feet and fits in both practice and regulation depth cups. Amazingly, it claims to be able to get over 12,000 putt returns out of 4 AA batteries. Thats a lot of practicing you have to do. In addition, it comes with a Caddy Cord, which will even catch those errant putts you have every once in a while. Now if only there was a product like this designed for water hazards...

inPulse Smartwatch

Blackberry and Android Phones have teamed up and made a new "SmartWatch" called inPulse. This watch syncs up with your phone and allows you to view all email messages, texts, alerts, calendars, etc on your watch. It even has caller ID on your watch so that you can see who is calling you without even taking out your phone. In a world where people are already attached to their phones, I think this takes tethering to a whole new level, literally always having your phone accessible on your wrist.

My Contribution to Girl Geekdom

Leave it to girls to make something fashionable AND geeky!

There many not be many or any good female superheroes (yet) but I think there have been ways in which superhero culture/fandom has become more open to women.  Also, I want these shoes.

Superhero Cake

My sister likes looking at cakes online and recently sent me this beautiful creation.  I am still trying to convince her make it for me.

I do find it strange that they included Aquaman and Robin on a cake of awesome superheroes. I would probably change them out for some X-men.
