iphones and big brother

Police are now using iphones to track people... the implications of this might be kind of wide. Not to be a total fanatic, I don't mean to use scare tactics here or anything, but I think this brings up some interesting questions about the ubiquity of technology and the disappearance of privacy. Is this ok? Should police be allowed to use iphones in this way? Going further, should Apple be limiting this location finding technology when they're distributing it on such a wide scale? Thoughts?
