I'm all for writing a long-winded blog post on here, as I usually do, but I don't think there are many words I could say that would top this image in relation to the breaking down of the human/machine dualism.

ReplyDeleteI think this would make Mr. Prideaux a cyborg in only a metaphoric sense. Prideaux enhances his performance of being human by the technology of a mechanical arm. However the addition of the smart phone is not part of him, but an easier way for him ease the use of his real arm in relation to technology of the smart phone.
The smart phone is not part of his construct because it isn't part of the arm, but rests inside it. However since it does enhance his performance on the telephone (much easier than balancing) I think this has a similar standing in cyborg as myself drinking coffee to stay up late. Metaphorical Cyborgs Unite!!!
