The New "Spiderman"

There is a lot of discussion about the relaunching of the Spiderman franchise. I personally feel that it is a little early to be telling a story that we just saw at the beginning of the 00's but there will always be a demand for more Spiderman. Recently, Marc Webb talked to Empire about his take on the series. He said that this is definitely not a remake of the Sam Raimi movies. It will be a different tone and different characters to give everyone a different experience. He said that he tried to create a universe that was believable and felt much like what a normal city would feel like. It starts off on a light note but going off what Marc said, "one of the reasons I wanted to do it was to fucking blow shit up, swing through the air and kick some ass," so I think we can at least expect to see some action.

  1. I thought this was also interesting, though it would never happen now that Webb is at the helm:

David Fincher and Spider-man? Count me both in and confused.

  2. It seems like ever since the Toby McGuire Spider-Man movies came out there has been an effort to turn every single comic book into a film. I feel like I just saw Spider-Man in theaters and the fact that a new one is in the works just feels too soon. Sure there is a demand for more of them, but I'm a firm believer that you can certainly overdo something to the point that it's overkill.

Some of the newer superhero movies like Thor and Green Lantern were just plain garbage and I hope that they stop making any old comic book into a movie to make some money. It will be a sad day when Hollywood kills the superhero genre by making too many flops.

  3. first, isnt a little weird that webb got to direct this reboot, since his last film was 500 days of summer. i'm interested in seeing his touch vs. raimi's. but for the whole reason for the reboot -- getting a much younger, and a lot girlier audience. andrew garfield = swoon worthy for young teenagers, and emma stone is every teenage girls favorite leading woman. youth of america!
